ABOUT GCCAD
GCCAD is operated by Glen Cooper, an accomplished and driven CAD Technician possessing nearly two-decades worth of diverse experience in the construction industry. Glen is proficient in Autodesk Software packages AutoCAD & Revit. He is also highly skilled in several other CAD and creative design products, such as Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Photoshop), and Blender (3D). Based in West Cornwall and hailing from a mainly structural background, Glen possesses a strong understanding of steelwork, timber, masonry and reinforced concrete construction methods. He has worked on countless commercial and domestic projects, such as schools, restaurants & pubs, new build dwellings, large housing developments, extensions, retail builds and transport hubs. Some examples of said projects include:
- The Hub Building and retaining walls at the East Park & Ride in Truro.
- Mulitple phases of the Perran Foundry major housing development in Perranworthal.
- The Innovation & Enterprise Centre for the Isles of Scilly Community Venture.
- The conversion of the Bodmin Public Rooms to a new four-screen cinema.
- Bredon Court apartments, Newquay, overlooking the golf course & Fistral Beach.
- Steelwork portal frame warehouse buildings for Truro Sawmills, Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm, Celtic Fish & Game, and Falfish.
- Reinforced concrete staircase design and detailing at Westfield shopping centre in Stratford City (an urban community centred on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London).
Based in his own office in West Cornwall, Glen works with powerful bespoke computer hardware and advanced 2D & 3D CAD software packages to produce highly accurate, detailed and presentable work. He is dedicated to client satisfaction, which he achieves by combining his creativity, practicality, keen problem solving skills, commitment to quality, and excellent interpretation of working drawings related to every project. Adding to his wealth of experience in 2D computer aided design, Glen has a keen interest in cutting edge 3D modelling software, specifically its application in the construction industry. He possesses great aptitude in building, manipulating and interrogating 3D models to assist industry professionals in the design of complicated structures. Glen has also performed a multitude of other duties whilst working in construction offices, including but not limited to: checking the work of others, monitoring resources & deadlines, supervision of newly appointed technicians, trainees & work experience placements, maintenance of office computer networks & IT resources, assistance in important site work, administrative duties, invoicing, liaison with clients & industry professionals, design of templates, letter heads & Computer Aided Design standards, marketing brochures, graphic design & web design.
In his free time, Glen can be found exploring and photographing the South West Coast Path in Cornwall, sea swimming, bodyboarding, hiking, playing football, writing, voice acting, woodworking, building retro arcade machines, tinkering with computer hardware, and spending time with family.
